In what should have been a liberal landslide, Democrats’ commitment to moderate liberalism crushed popular progressive policies and the candidate that brought them to the party, alienated progressive voters, and provided no policy answers to challenge a president who refused to protect people against a viral pandemic causing the needless deaths of over 230,000 citizens, making this an election that the Democrats should have run away with too damned close to call. Even if they win, the Democrats’ commitment to moderate liberalism is the millstone around the party’s neck.
