Morning fam,
Another triple homicide, this one resulting in the murders of a mother and children. The media and police are quick to point to domestic violence, nobody’s talking about the impact the pandemic, lockdown and uncertainties have had on domestic violence or increased crime, especially violent crime.

Nobody’s looking at the psychological ramifications, the fact that some people are not well, they’re barely hanging on, self medicating, cracking under the pressure that often leads to tragedy.

Domestic violence was on the rise, even before the pandemic. The few safety nets strained.. with even fewer community resources. Yes, we have a gang of organizations, cookie cutter sometimes black faced white run orgs that exist to justify their funding. For every issue we endure, there is an org. The worse our condition, the bigger their funding… their very existence depends on black suffering, they’re not exactly in the business of solving or diminishing problems. That would put them out of a job. Not that anyone has to worry about that, most are ill-equipped to adequately deal with the issues they’ve been tasked to handle.

Insert the ‘experts’, in this case an org that did not know the victims or suspect or the children… or their circumstance beyond the tragedy being reported giving the same cookie cutter response. This news report is more about them than the family that was wiped out, their deaths reduced to a backdrop for an informercial for Domestic Violence orgs and the hotline.

“What I don’t want is the community to continue to just hear this and become numb to this,”

Elected leaders are numb to this, as with every issue… throw some money at an org and keep it moving. This is what happens when that isn’t enough.
