After Republican governors cut off the $300 weekly federal supplement to unemployed workers, courts in Maryland and Indiana ruled this week that those benefits should continue until they are slated to end in early September. Today, Kim is joined with Roxie Herbekian, president of UNITE HERE Local 7 about why that money is still critical for those still out of work. Also, lots of Black & Brown “leaders” met at the White House to discuss gun violence and ways to give the police more money so they can remain bloated and ineffective. And lastly, courage in politics somewhat resembles what the democratic contingent of lawmakers in the Texas legislature did — boogied out of town in resistance to allowing a vote to proceed that would’ve made it more arduous for Black & Brown people to vote.
